Rules Highlights

This is a brief overview of some highlights of our rules. It’s not the complete set of rules. There is a complete set of rules in the 2008 National brochure as well as at our online rules link. It’s the responsibility of each competitor to read and know the rules before competing. We will enforce the rules to the letter. We do not want to disqualify anyone from this tournament so please read the rules completely before participating.

1.         Tournament Check-In
You must be back and your magnet must be on the weigh-in board by 3:00 pm to avoid late penalties. If you are late, you will be penalized 1 lb per minute up to 15 minutes, and if you are 15 or more minutes late your catch will be disqualified.

2.         Safety
Life jackets and kill switches must be worn while the gas motor is propelling the boat. Running lights must up and be turned on at blastoff until you reach your first destination. No alcohol or drugs should be consumed from beginning of official practice up until the weigh-in site is completely torn down and the tournament staff has left the launch area.

3.         Sportsmanship
Each contestant is expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, and conservation.  You cannot fish within 50 yards of another boat if it is anchored with the trolling motor up. You cannot fish within 25 yards of any other boat without the other boater’s permission.

4.         Scoring
There will be a 5 fish per team limit. All culling must be done at the time the 6th fish is caught. You cannot have more than 5 fish in your livewell at any time. The penalty for a short fish is 1 lb. The penalty for a dead fish is 1/4 lb. (.25 lb)

5.         Substitutes
If you are fishing with a substitute, you MUST let the director know by no later than the end of the pre-tournament meeting.
